Accreditation
From PDPA
Accreditation is a status given to a decorative painting educational institution or program that meets or exceeds the criteria of the PDPA Educational Standards.
History of Accreditation
Accreditation started in the United States in the late 1800s as a peer review process that was initiated by educational institutions to assure quality. Accreditation models like ours are generally not used in other countries of the world because they rely on government supervision and control of educational institutions. The success in the education of Americans can be traced in large part to the reluctance of the United States to impose governmental restrictions on institutions of post-secondary education, and to the success of the voluntary system of accreditation in promoting quality without inhibiting innovation.
Accreditation assures the quality of the institution or program and assists in the improvement of the institution or program. Accreditation applies to institutions or programs, and does not apply to individuals.
