Education Summit
From PDPA
When the Guilds of the past disbanded, the people involved went in many different directions: Some towards the formation of unions, keeping control of labor and brokering it, others left to freely work in their trade. Groups of like minded people also congregated for the love of craft and knowledge to form groups of students and teachers with collective interest in elevating their profession. These eventually became universities.
The PDPA is one such specialized association that has been formed for love of craft and knowledge with the intent to expand recognition for decorative painting as a trade in the US.
Shaping a new decorative painting industry
2010 PDPA Education Summit Sept. 15th-17th
Demonstrations will be given everyday. This year we will have the honor of having renowned artist Ron Francis from Australia giving a demo. Other demonstrators will be announced as the year goes on. Demonstrations will not be limited to but will include demos on projects, techniques and experiences within the field of Decorative Painting. I know I am exciting to see how a large scale or technically difficult project was tackled from start to finish. An inside look at the mental and physical workings or an artists experience.
Classes at the Education Summit are unique to the industry and are designed to take you to the next level. These classes are not only unique but FREE to member of the PDPA!
- The history and structure and use of brushes - Pierre Finkelstein
- The history and evolution of plaster - Nicola Vigini
- Painting the cyprus tree - Pascal Amblard
- TBA- Dean Sickler
Competitions bring fun and excitement to our industry. Come watch or join in on the folly and laughter as decorative painters compete in contests that are related to every day life as a professional.
